Gianluca Lanciai is an Italian documentary photographer, filmmaker, and lecturer whose work is rooted in long-term research and visual storytelling. His practice focuses on human stories and their relationship with place, combining an observational documentary approach with a personal visual language.
Trained at the International Center of Photography in New York, he works across photography and moving image. He has collaborated with National Geographic, Bloomberg, and other international publications and organizations, and was selected as a Global Winner of the Fujifilm GFX Challenge Grant 2024. His work has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Alongside his photographic practice, Gianluca teaches photography and visual storytelling, with a focus on long-term projects, editing, and the development of personal visual languages. He is also interested in interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers, scientists, and cultural institutions.
